The PUDU GT7 is an autonomous precision reel mower for professional sports fields, golf courses, and high-quality turf areas. While classic robotic mowers are often geared towards the regular maintenance of simple green spaces, the GT7 was developed specifically for applications where particularly consistent cutting quality, precisely reproducible paths, and high area performance are crucial. Three independently mounted reel mowing units, precise RTK navigation, and all-wheel drive form the technical foundation for this.
With a cutting width of 1,600 mm and a mowing capacity of up to 8,000 m² per hour, the GT7 is designed for professional, large-scale turf maintenance. The cutting height can be adjusted between 5 and 50 mm. This makes the autonomous reel mower suitable for various requirements on sports and quality turf.
Precision reel mower for professional sports fields
A key feature of the PUDU GT7 is the triple reel mower deck. The three cutting units are mounted in a floating manner independently of each other and can follow the contours of the ground. This is intended to achieve the most consistent cutting height possible, even on undulating sports turf.
Depending on the configuration, cutting cylinders with eight or eleven blades are used. The combination of reel technology and contour-following suspension is aimed specifically at operators who require high-quality and reproducible turf quality.
For soccer fields, training centers, stadiums, or other professional sports facilities, this can be a decisive difference compared to simple rotary mowing systems.
Autonomous robotic mower for soccer fields and training facilities
The GT7 is designed for a mowing capacity of up to 8,000 m² per hour. According to the manufacturer, the 26 kWh battery allows for an operating time of up to twelve hours. In non-collection mode, up to 70,000 m², or seven hectares, can be covered on a single battery charge.
This makes a single robot attractive even for larger sports facilities with multiple playing fields. Multiple turf areas can be connected via previously mapped internal routes. After completing a playing field, the GT7 can independently drive to the next zone and continue its work there.
This eliminates the need to manually move the robot after each completed area.
RTK navigation with up to ±2.5 cm accuracy
For high-quality sports field maintenance, it is not enough to simply drive autonomously over an area. Driving paths and overlaps must be as precise and reproducible as possible.
For this purpose, the PUDU GT7 combines RTK, LiDAR, and camera systems. Under suitable conditions, PUDU specifies an RTK positioning accuracy of up to ±2.5 cm.
This precise positioning also forms the basis for advanced path planning. Cutting angles, directional changes, and lane offsets can be configured. This allows for systematic paths and professional stripe patterns on sports fields to be created.
Automated creation of professional stripe patterns
The characteristic stripe pattern of a professionally maintained soccer field is created through systematic and repeatable driving paths. With the GT7, various parameters of the mowing route can be adjusted.
This makes the robot suitable not only for pure area maintenance but also for locations where a reproducible appearance of the turf is required.
For operators of professional sports facilities, the automation of these recurring processes can help make workflows more standardized and predictable.
Standard mowing or active grass collection
The PUDU GT7 supports two different operating modes. In standard mode, the area is mowed without using the vacuum system to collect the clippings. This allows the robot to operate particularly quietly.
Alternatively, an active collection mode is available. A dual-fan vacuum system picks up grass clippings, fallen leaves, and light debris and directs them into a collection container.
The GT7 also detects the fill level of the container and supports the resumption of the task after the necessary container emptying. However, PUDU does not describe an automatic self-emptying station for the GT7.
Autonomous maintenance of golf courses and high-quality turf
In addition to professional sports fields, PUDU expressly mentions golf courses as an important area of application for the GT7. Particularly there, consistent cutting heights, clean path tracking, and the quietest possible operation are relevant.
The purely electric chassis reduces noise emissions. If the fan motor is also deactivated in non-collection mode, PUDU describes operation as being particularly quiet. This can create additional time windows for turf maintenance.
Even undulating surfaces can be mowed by the independently movable mower units, provided the operational and local requirements are met.
All-wheel drive for slopes and challenging terrain
The GT7 features a 4WD all-wheel drive and is specified for mowing tasks on inclines of up to 30°. This expands the scope of application beyond completely level playing fields.
This is relevant, for example, on golf courses, expansive training grounds, or sports facilities with varying terrain heights. At the same time, the three floating-mounted cutting units follow the respective ground contours.
360° environment perception and adaptive obstacle avoidance
For autonomous operation, the GT7 combines all-around RGB cameras, RGB-D sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and LiDAR. This allows the system to continuously perceive its surroundings.
According to the manufacturer, turf boundaries, pedestrians, and vehicles can be detected, among other things. Depending on the specific situation, the robot can stop, wait, or bypass an obstacle.
Especially on sports facilities, golf courses, or other publicly or commercially used areas, this environment perception is an important component of autonomous operation.
Remote fleet management for professional operators
The GT7 also supports remote fleet management. Operators can monitor live location, task progress, and system status, among other things. Error notifications are intended to help identify necessary interventions at an early stage.
This makes the PUDU GT7 suitable not only as a single robotic mower for sports fields but also for larger facilities where multiple autonomous systems need to be monitored centrally.
