The collaborative robots DOBOT CR10A and DOBOT CR10AS are among the more powerful models in the CR/CRA/CRS series. With a 10 kg payload, a large working radius of up to approx. 1300 mm, and a maximum reach of around 1525 mm, they address applications where lighter cobots reach their limits – such as palletizing, machine loading and unloading, transport and packaging, as well as picking in warehouses and e-commerce fulfillment.
Unlike classic industrial robots, the CR10A and CR10AS are designed as collaborative robots: they feature numerous safety functions, a compact design, and simple operation, allowing them to be retrofitted into existing production lines and logistics environments. Companies can start with a single cobot cell and later integrate additional Dobot CR cobots step by step.
Key technical data: 10 kg payload, long reach, and high precision
The technical specifications of the CR10 platform are clearly geared toward demanding handling and palletizing tasks. With a 10 kg load capacity, cartons, crates, trays, components, and workpiece carriers typical of goods receiving, shipping departments, or production can be moved. The working radius of around 1300 mm and the maximum reach of approx. 1525 mm make it possible to access multiple stations within a single cell: stacking areas, conveyor belts, pallets, machines, or buffer shelves.
The repeatability of ±0.03 mm is very high for a 10 kg cobot and ensures that cartons, components, or trays are placed precisely and reproducibly. This is supported by DH parameter compensation and vibration suppression, ensuring that the CR10A/CR10AS operates stably even at high speeds. With a TCP speed of up to 4 m/s, the cobot is fast enough to significantly reduce cycle times at palletizing, packaging, or loading stations.
The IP54 protection class makes the robotic arms resistant to dust and splash water – a plus for applications in the packaging industry, in food and beverage environments, or in dust-prone production areas.
CR10AS with SafeSkin – Pre-collision detection for safe HRC
The biggest difference between the DOBOT CR10A and the DOBOT CR10AS is the integrated SafeSkin technology of the CR10AS. SafeSkin is a contour-following silicone skin with large-area, contactless sensors that covers the entire robot arm. Unlike classic, purely force-based collision monitoring, SafeSkin detects conductive objects – especially humans – at a distance of approx. 7 cm, reacts within 0.01 seconds, and triggers deceleration or a stop before contact occurs.
A key advantage: While many cobots in a shared workspace are limited to low speeds of about 0.25 m/s, a cobot with SafeSkin – depending on the risk assessment and application – can operate at significantly higher speeds (up to approx. 1 m/s) while remaining compliant with standards. This makes the CR10AS particularly attractive for collaborative palletizing stations, picking workstations, or assembly areas where human employees regularly share the same workspace with the cobot.
Typical applications in production, logistics, and packaging
Due to their payload and reach, the CR10A and CR10AS are suitable for a wide range of tasks along the value chain:
- Palletizing and depalletizing of cartons, crates, and sacks
- Loading and unloading of machines (CNC, injection molding, stamping, packaging machines)
- Picking and repacking in e-commerce and fulfillment centers
- Packaging, labeling, and carton handling on packaging lines
- Goods receiving / shipping – automated unloading from mesh boxes, KLTs, trays
- Intralogistics – transferring containers between conveyor lines, buffer shelves, and workstations
In many of these scenarios, the CR10A and CR10AS can specifically relieve human employees: the cobot takes over monotonous, physically demanding tasks such as lifting, stacking, and rearranging, while personnel focus on quality control, problem-solving, and value-added activities.
Simple integration into PLC, IT systems, and peripherals
To ensure the Dobot CR10A and Dobot CR10AS integrate seamlessly into existing environments, the CR platform supports common industrial protocols: TCP/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, RS485, and EtherCAT are available to connect cobots to PLCs, IPCs, SCADA, MES, or ERP solutions. The control box offers numerous digital and analog I/Os, allowing grippers, vacuum technology, light curtains, sensors, and conveyor lines to be integrated without significant additional effort.
With DobotStudio Pro, commissioning engineers and in-house teams can set up the cobot via a graphical interface, teach paths via drag-to-teach, define logic via block diagrams, or integrate it deeply into existing systems via scripts and APIs in languages such as Python or C/C++. For advanced projects, ROS integration and open SDKs are also available to incorporate features such as vision systems, force-torque sensors, or proprietary AI algorithms.
Scalable CR/CRS platform – from single cobot to line
The CR10A and CR10AS are part of the DOBOT CR series, which includes cobots with a payload from 3 to 16 kg. Companies that start with a 10 kg cobot can easily add other models such as the CR3A/CR3AS, CR5A/CR5AS, or CR16 later without changing the platform. Accessories such as palletizing kits, linear rails, vision kits, and various gripper systems can be flexibly combined, making it possible to build complete production and logistics cells step by step.
Combined with the CRS series with SafeSkin (CR3AS, CR5AS, CR10AS), this creates a consistent HRC strategy: smaller cobots handle assembly and inspection tasks in the immediate vicinity of employees, while the CR10AS covers palletizing or picking stations within the same safety concept. This creates a unified platform that covers both classic industrial robot applications and modern collaborative robotic workstations.
